This is a very timely topic discussing the increasing use of trade sanctions. The EU is securing its place in the global political and economic landscape through a model of “geostrategic open autonomy”. This model is a blend of political and economic statecraft that seeks to be an open economy to the world while recognizing that it may leverage that economic power to secure its interests and fundamental values. This reflects in the EU’s policy of trade and sanctions.
The panel experts will discuss the geopolitical context and impact of sanctions in light of EU fundamental values, its linkage to trade and their relation to judicial remedies in and outside of the EU.
